Not your ordinary Cup o' Joe

Enjoying a daily cup of coffee (or “cup o’ joe,” as it were) is becoming an increasingly popular habit among Americans. In fact, in a Reuter’s study, 64% of Americans consume a cup or more of coffee on a daily basis. The majority of these folks, nearly 80%, prefer to have their coffee at home. Whether we consume our daily cup of caffeinated deliciousness at home, on the go, or at a local café, one thing remains constant: a sweet treat rounds out the entire experience.

As we know, sweet treats paired with coffee include items such as pastries, croissants, fruit breads (like banana or pumpkin bread), biscotti, or cookies. These foods are not only high in fat and processed sugar, but these calorically-dense treats can increase one’s risk of developing heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and unintentional weight gain. Because so many Americans have coffee on a daily basis, we can see how this could very easily lead to various health concerns.

So what is the solution? Let’s look at dates as a possible pairing. Yes, this might sound strange to many people, but the practice is actually a staple in many other cultures around the world. Here are the top 3 reasons to enjoy ENERGY DATES – Sukkari with coffee:

1. You can eliminate the sugar in your Joe.

Added sugars to coffee can be a sneaky way of adding extra unnecessary calories into your diet. I have seen so many patients of mine lose weight when they cut out the extra sugar. Ordering coffee out doesn’t help the issue in the least – telling the barista to “add sugar and cream” gives them the opportunity to add as much (or as little) as they want, giving you less control over your nutritional health. ENERGY DATES is very sweet, with about 25g of carbohydrate per serving, making the sugar in the coffee obsolete, and the perfect pairing with unsweetened coffee.

2. You won’t need to run to the bathroom afterward.

Most people who drink coffee regularly understand that doing so can alter the frequency of bowel movements, specifically looser stools. Loose stools usually contain a lot of electrolytes, such as potassium. Not only are ENERGY DATES

a great source of potassium (with nearly 250mg per serving), but they are also have over 6g fiber per serving and can help regulate consistent bowel movements. In other words, having ENERGY DATES with coffee can help keep your electrolyte balance regulated as well as making your GI much happier!

3. You’ll enjoy sustained energy for HOURS.

Although most people do enjoy the flavor of coffee, another reason for that daily cup is the boost of energy it provides to get the day started (or to continue on with a long day). Dates offer the same benefit – due to their carb and fiber content – so the duality of each offers the quick boost known to coffee, with an extended benefit offered by ENERGY DATES. If you are trying to cut back on the number of cups you drink each day, this is an ideal solution.

Though ENERGY DATES are not the usual suspected pairing with coffee, it may be just the boost you are looking for early in the day. Between the opportunity to reduce sugar intake and the extended energy benefit, you may not even need a second (or third) cup of coffee to get you through. And because ENERGY DATES are really good for the gut, you know that you are doing great things for your body as you indulge in a sweet treat.
